Problem With MIDI Tracks

Hello, Please forgive my ignorance but I am a total newbie as far as MIDI instruments/recording goes.

I just bought an "E-MU X Board 49" MIDI controller to control a PAIA modular synth I am assembling. I also started recording with Sonar "Home Studio 4" a little while ago. Since I now have a MIDI controller I thought I would attempt to delve into the world of MIDI recording as the Sonar program has some MIDI capabilites. The two MIDI "sounds" programs I am using are Proteus X LE and the G Force "M-Tron" Mellotron emulator.

My problem is although I can record a MIDI track with the Sonar program without difficulty if I happen to use the Mod or pitch wheels on the X Board while recording the performance I find that the final recording did not "record" the movements of the mod and pitch wheels. When I play the recording back everything I played is there but none of the mod or pitch wheel movements have been "captured" in the performance.

Also I mentioned that I use the M-Tron Mellotron emulator. There is an "on-screen" pitch control on the M-Tron interface and if I record a performance using the M-Tron and I move this pitch control with the mouse while recording I find that on playback none of the pitch bends have been "captured" in the performance either. I am curious as to what I have to do in order to make these wheel and pitch movements "recordable" within a track.

Like I said I'm sure there is a simple solution to this problem but I am very new to the whole MIDI world and I'm not sure what to do. I hope that I've expressed my problem clearly enough.

A switch needs to be flipped in the software somewhere to allow midi controller recording. I'm not sure where you'd find it in Home Studio 4, but it's probably under 'preferences', 'options' or some similar label.

Both modulation and pitch bend fall under the category of midi controllers and that's all you want to enable for right now. There may be an option to enable sysex or some other stuff, but all you want for now is to enable recording of midi controllers.
