Problem With MIDI Tracking

Hello, Please forgive my ignorance but I am a total newbie as far as MIDI instruments/recording goes.

I just bought an "E-MU X Board 49" MIDI controller to control a PAIA modular synth I am assembling. I also started recording with Sonar "Home Studio 4" a little while ago. Since I now have a MIDI controller I thought I would attempt to delve into the world of MIDI recording as the Sonar program has some MIDI capabilites. The two MIDI "sounds" programs I am using are Proteus X LE and the G Force "M-Tron" Mellotron emulator.

My problem is although I can record a MIDI track with the Sonar program without difficulty if I happen to use the Mod or pitch wheels on the X Board while recording the performance I find that the final recording did not "record" the movements of the mod and pitch wheels. When I play the recording back everything I played is there but none of the mod or pitch wheel movements have been "captured" in the performance.

Also I mentioned that I use the M-Tron Mellotron emulator. There is an "on-screen" pitch control on the M-Tron interface and if I record a performance using the M-Tron and I move this pitch control with the mouse while recording I find that on playback none of the pitch bends have been "captured" in the performance either. I am curious as to what I have to do in order to make these wheel and pitch movements "recordable" within a track.

Like I said I'm sure there is a simple solution to this problem but I am very new to the whole MIDI world and I'm not sure what to do. I hope that I've expressed my problem clearly enough.

I don't know about HS4, but in Sonar4 click "options" > "global" > "MIDI" gives you the recording options available for MIDI tracks.

Hope this helps.

I recommend this book too about MIDI protocols.
