wow, some guys one here are less than helpful even if the question is vague.

minimum: You'll need an interface with at least one microphone preamp. a microphone, and headphones.

Better: Interface with mic preamp, microphone, headphones, speakers

Better still: Interface, better quality microphone preamp, microphone, headphones, speakers

it's such a vague question with hundreds of posibilities. You'd be better off visiting the tweak link in the first response to this thread and reading up.

You don't need to spend a lot to start learning this stuff. It takes time. Just try to ask more specific questions as you learn more. And please for the love of Dog, refrain from ever asking: how do i get professional sounding recordings. You will be massacered on here

Start off with a good MXL $60-$100 mic or if you want to go the distance get a Studio Projects C1 mic, DMP3 preamp, good headphones (closed cushions), $150 M-Audio monitors, M-Audio 24/96, and M-Powered Pro-Tools. If you on a budget you can actually skip the monitors and PTs. N-Track is a great piece of DAW software. Very easy to use.

Any other questions feel free. Im always here to help out a brotha.
