guitar mics?

I was gonna buy a shure 55SH seriesII for vocals looks so cool but does it deliver. And was wondering if anyone has a good idea for a mic for recording acoustic and electric guitar amps? price range 100-300 a mic for playing ska reggae things of that nature and recording ocassionaly congo bongo and steel drums. If u feel one mic is great for guitars and another is better for mic'ing the drums let me know my budget is decent thnx in advance for any help. New to recording but been jamming for years.

Good versatile condenser mic: CAD M179, AT4040
For amps, consider a dynamic: Shure SM57, Sennheiser e609s
