Voxengo Plug-Ins vs. CPU Useage

Is it just me or do the Voxengo plug-in's take up more CPU than a lot of the others? I'm using Marquis Compressor (trying anyways) but I get stops -n- stutters...CPU meter jumps way up from time to time, compare this to some of my other compressor plug-ins, I have no issues.

Anyone else having this problem?

yeah, i use the Soniformer, and it takes a bit of CPU to run it. but to me that effect is priceless, and serves me well. So what i do is........record the track, use the effect in the plug-in bin, and then "freeze" the track.

this helps the CPU a bit...............

Thanks...wasn't sure if I had "something else" going on here or what. I've heard good reviews of the compressor but man...it sure crippled me quickly. I have to admit, this project is plug-in intensive. Could be I've stretched things a bit but I've never been here before.

Thanks for offering your comments.

I've been thinking about trying that plug bit haven't yet.

I'm really liking the Perfect Space verb but man can tihs be a drain on CPU.

I guess it's just a dream but it would be nice if they had some kind of DSP card that could run "all" your Direct X and VST plugs in Sonar. The other option is a UAD card or Powercore.

I've got the Perfect Space and it doesn't seem to be a problem...just the compressor

I've only used the freebies, and they don't seem to be too power hungry.

Voxengo can be CPU hungry, but many good plugs are I think. I recently bought a UAD-1 and that took the burden off by using those plugs which run on its own processor. Now I can run quite a few Voxengo plugs. Between the UAD-1 and Voxengo, my needs are met.

Soniformer is such a great tool, as is Gliss EQ.
