Trying to rock but can't get ahead.......suggestions?
I have a BR-8 boss recorder that uses zip disks. I have an external Zip drive but cannot figure out how to use it. I think I need a solution cd from iomega or some shit. Well I tried a different route because I want very badly to reord my tracks to cd. I hooked my boss up to a cassette reorder and taped them. The sound on the tapes sounds like crap.... it doesn't sound like what is recorded on my disks like it's being dragged through sludge. I need some advice. Is there a better way without complicating things? I have been trying to record since I was 11. I'm 21 now and feel like everything I do is a wate of time and effort. I don't want to give up but I don't have much money and I want a decent sound. SOMEONE PLEASE HELLLLPPPP!!!!!

hi and welcome to the board!
Okay first thing, does the external zip drive work properly with other disks? have you tried using a different zip drive? Have you made sure you have made a mixdown, otherwise you will just have all the seperate tracks unmixed ![]() |

Chances are the zip drive in the boss uses a propriety format- one that won't be recognised by your copmtuer even if you got your external drive working. A lot of comapanies d osimilar things- ie you can't use th ehard disk out of an Alesis HD24 or a Mackie SDR in your computer.
There are a number of reasons behind this, and most of them are good... they're not trying to screw you. The best way to get the songs to your copmuter would be to get a decent quality soundcard and then bounce the tracks out of the boss and into your box for burning. Crud

I don't know about all this stuff i suppose i didn't mix them. I haven't really tried the disks on anything other than an evternal drive it has no usb port so i don't even know if it configures with what i'm trying to do.

Boss has software you can download so that you can get your wav. files into your computer. I found this on their site.
