Audacity question

Hi everyone I'm new here and was wondering about taking the music out of a song to leave an accapla just vocal track... I can't seem to find anything anywhere else so I thought I might ask if this is possible through audacity

you can't un-mix a mix.

Can you take the eggs out of a birthday cake?

...well if you make a chicken eat only birthday cake... if it doesn't die... you should get some eggs back...

basically the process is ...umm... (I've never done it before) I think splitthe sterio file into seperate tracks and then invert one... thats as good as it gets...

you will not get much of the results you are wanting in Audacity... sorry to say it just is not up to it, to tell the truth most people really only want the vocal out of a track not the music...

Audacity is just as good as any other similar product at doing this (or in this case NOT doing this). Audacity is fine for audio editing.

Putting a channel out of phase and combining has very limited results, as was pointed out.
