But what's the "rat" mod?

I bought it from Ratsound.com. At the base of the mic, there is a professionaly engraved picture of a rat. It looks pretty neat actually.

The OM7 Ratsound Mod "are factory blemished mics. Sonically they are exactly the same as an off the shelf om7. They have slight, barely noticable imperfections in the exterior. "

The imperfections are the spots of chipped paint on the grille, but they barely noticeable since they're black just like the color of the grille.

I unscrewed the grille to look inside; looks like new. I guess Ratsound used it for demo. It sounds like a condensor mic (crisp), and very good with feedback rejection (even better at it than the SM58).
