Very new to recording... need some accistance
ok... i just got reason 3... i am about to get a midi keyboard controller from m audio. i need to know what else i need if i am going 2 be recording vocals.. for example... i no i need a mic and i want one that will go into my computer somehow... i know that a studio quality mic wont jus go straight into the comp... what program should i use for the voice recording? sound forge? please help

do a google search for usb condenser microphones, you'll find, among others, the blue snowball ( which i heard sounded real nice overall) and i know samson makes some usb mics too. theres also probably reviews of some on this site, so do a search here also. check those out. that would be the easiest path for you. just plug it in and go. no mixers and patch cables to annoy you.

yea but the thing is i wanna buy a b1 from sp...im not sure how i would get it hooked up 2 da comp and wat program would be good 2 record in

Get a mic preamp. i would prefer the SP vtb-1 or m-audio dmp3. another alternative is to buy a mixer that has preamps ready and phantom power. u will be set for recording either awy.

ok but how does the mic from the preamp plug into my computer.. also, what programs is good for recording?

just take the outputs (1/4 trs most likely) and connect it to ur soundcard's Line IN. but it depends which soundcard u have.
as for programs..i dont know..it depends what u want to use it for and what u want to accomplish. |

well, i looked at the preamps, and i think i am getting the sp vtb1... and i just want a program that will let me record some raps and let me plug them in with a reason beat...

use cubase sx 3. Its prob the most used and if u need help most ppl can sort u out. Also cakewalk tis cheap and sililar 2 cubase. If u use mac use pro logic. Hope this help but this is my choice u might think otherwise
