A top list is a directory of bands, but instead of the order being alphabetical, it's based on how many people have rated the band. So if a band has been rated by 10 people, it will appear above all those that have 9 or less. The reward is that the band near the top will get more visitors to their website and more promotion.

I've yet to find one for music. Here is an example I found for gaming sites (link below). All the sites you see listed link to this top list. Those that have sent the most appear at the top. They in turn get more people back from the list.

http://www.gamesites200.com/gaming/

I've looked for a band top list, but I've yet to find one. I think I may start my own and get bands to join. It's completely free and a great way to get more people to check out your site.

I just googled it. I found something close, but it's from 2004. Not the same thing as what you just showed me though. It seems like a really good idea to start one. Let me know if you decide to start one.

hummm some people are really stingy about Alternative being its own type of music...I consider it Rock....but Alternative may be another. Other than that, I can't think of any you're missing.

Alternative is definitely a sub-genre of rock, just like metal. I'll create a bigger list with all the sub-genres.

BTW, thanks for the MySpace add.

Probably what I need is ideas, suggestions, and people to test it. I have three web servers and a programmer, so that's not a problem.

BTW, what do you think of the logo and colors?

So the band at the top of the list gets more views or listens, therefore getting more/better ratings, and further solidifies its spot at the top of the list? Sounds like soundclick.com to me.

It is purely based on how many people you send, not ratings. So if some band starting out puts their link some place that gets it lots of clicks, they can take the top. You don't have to worry if the person will give you a vote.

Where is acoustic? I don't see acoustic on your list. I need acoustic on your list. Acoustic, acoustic, acoustic. Don't lump me in with easy listening, I just hate that.
