how much ram do you have?....I had this problem too...it turned out to be a virus... I downloaded spyware doctor, did a scan and had tons of worms, trojans you name it I had it....I'm not saying that this will fix your problem, but it fixed mine.

it doesn't sound like a dongle issue to me, if the dongle wasn't working the program wouldn't load at all.

..this is assuming, of course, that your comment wasn't a subtle "is it a stolen copy?" remark.

that said, is your copy legit, botinok? it's sad that every cubase help topic has to be questioned in such a manner before any help is provided...

I'm pretty sure that the shure sm7b mic is causing the problems.

I've never ever seen any store accept opened software for a return.

What store are you dealing with?

Are you able to open the Synchrosoft licence control centre or does that crash also?...

When I got SX3 and installed the patch, it upgraded the licence control centre to some crappy version that didn't work. I kept getting that error too. So I went to Synchrosoft's site and tried to install the new version, still had the same problem. Hours later I found a solution.

If this doesn't help then sorry for wasting time but here goes anyway:

Goto Synchrosofts site, download new licence control centre version
Put it on your desktop.

Open command prompt (Start>run....then type cmd)

Drag the file you downloaded into the command prompt window, this will display the path to the file at the prompt. On the same line, press space, and type /o
This will install the file whilst uninstalling the old version completely at the same time.

After this all my problems were fixed.

I don't turn a blind eye to pirating, and the above statement is totally ignorant, I will say.

My post was entirely relevant to the issue.

You want to put up with pirates, that is your concern. Don't tell us we have to, or that we should just ignore them.
