which Mixer to get?.........

Im getting rid of my junky behringer eurorack mixer, and want to upgrade to something that "sounds" better. Ive been having my eye on either a Mackie VLZ-pro, SoundCraft Spirit "E series", and others such as Alesis, and Yamaha.

of these, which one would offer the best sound, at the best "bang-for-buck" price? I hear that the preamps make a huge sound differnce, as well as "summing", with those in mind......which company/ models would you guys recomend?

Im trying to keep the budget under $500, for a model that has at least 4-6 XLR mic inputs.

thanks for your input and feedback!

I'm going through the same motions here, though I've already decided on a Yamaha 16/4.

I own Mackie, and I've used Yamaha, Alesis, and Soundcraft. I hate to throw a curve into your research but you should definitely check out Allen & Heath.

They make great boards, but if you have a tight budget they're impossible. an 8 channel a&h board cost about as much as a yamaha 16/4fx

The Soundcraft Compact10 is a good board with 4 mic slots. I have the Compact4 myself.
