Floaming solid state amp

I have a crate, and I really love its' sound, but I'd like to warm it up a bit.

I was told, that using Floam and the mysterious acoustic properties contained within it would do just this.

I'd really like to save some money, so can someone advise?
I don't want to be out the money for the Floam....

You think I'm some kind of girly man or something?
It has to be black!

Or maybe chrome...

My MR8 is an attractive shade of alarming red...always has somehow aroused me....

hmm.

Pink is kinda red...isn't it?

I'm always down for a good discussion on salmon, but I am still intrigued by the acoustical properties of Floam. So, in an attempt to revive this thread, I'll ask what's on my mind:

"What acoustical properties of Floam?"

Be sure to form it into the shape of a dinosaur for maximum bass trapping. T. Rex seems to work the best for me.

You are so full of BS. Everyone with a modicum of understanding of acoustical physics knows that the T. Rex is only good for high frequency reflections. For a bass trap you have to go with a Diplodocus or Apatosaur. The T. Rex is from the late Cretaceous period, fer chrissakes; for low freq trapping any moron knows that you need to tap the 'saurs from the Jurassic, and not the early Jurassic, either. Jeez! Amateurs...

And the pink floam absorbs reasonably well down to 500 Hz. The green is equally absorbent down to 250 Hz. Both however control
jitter artifacts 110 dB below the music and standing waves in your studio that cause a huge hole at 80 Hz exactly.

Just be sure to leave an air gap behind your T.Rex or chosen dino of at least 1/8"

I want to record really good black/death metal tones... do you think floam will help my guitar recordings? Will it sound better than my Behringer amp does now? I don't want to buy a good amp and I don't believe the people who tell me I need a good amp to record pro-quality guitar tones... so even if I can get a 5% improvement using floam... I would buy it.

Also, I heard you can't get pro-quality distorted guitar tones using floam, it only works for clean tones. Is this true? What about if it use it on my distortion pedal... will that help?

That is BS!! I just floamed my Tony Iommi humbuckers and man, let me tell you, it's a f@#$cking beast now!!! My Goth SG looks a little silly with flourescent yellow pickups, but who cares this shit rocks!!

I can't speak on the distortion pedal wrapped in floam, haven't tried that. However, I did floam my sneakers and I gotta say, it does feel better when I step on the pedal. Hope that helps....
