teisco del ray e-200 "tulip"
hey dudes, i just found this forum and i am really excited to learn a lot of great info on recording. i am reading this book called practical recording techniques and it is helping me so much. i really want a nice analog recording system, but enough about that.
i have this teisco "tulip" with two microphone pickups. i was wondering if anyone could give me any good information on it or any advice. i heard something about potting microphone pickups to give them better tone. should i do something like that or should i get some old teisco pickups off ebay. i just dont really dig the whole microphone thing, it picks up a lot of pops when i touch the guitar, so i was just asking for some advise. thanks a lot guys.

A Tulip Del Rey with original p/ups has a GREAT sound/tone/response. If it's not your sound though you'd be best selling it to someone who digs it & buying something you want or something more recent to rev up for yourself.
Matt has it right - it depends on what you want. I'd be really happy to own a "tulip" with original gear & I'd use it that way. Bung it through some effects & see how cool it can be. Cheers rayC |
