Midi - Editor/Librarian???

Does anyone out there use a Universal Editor/Librarian program for there MIDI setup? If so what are you using? I'm preparing to buy one for my setup and need some input. My setup includes 6 different keyboards. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I'm looking at MidiQuest v8.0 right now...

I use Midiquest and have also use Emagic SoundDiver and briefly tried Unisyn (I think that's what it was called). Everyone works differently and all these programs have strengths and weaknesses... but I continue to use and prefer Midiquest. Does everything I want, they continue to upgrade and improve it.

I use Soundiver. To me, it is the best.

Being in the Mac world here I use several editor/librarian programmes.

I use Galaxy Plus, MidiQuest, Unisyn and Roland SC Pro.

Once you get a editor/librarian you will wonder what took you so long to get it.

These programmes are great for generating " great sounds " .

I have a few patches that I've collected over the years on the internet. I dont use these units that much now that I have a Yamaha TX81Z now. It blows my FB-01 away. The TX81Z I primarilly use for bass sounds and bell sounds; as well as a few of those "DX" series sounding Electric Pianos. The FB-01 is used mainly for basses and Electric Pianos also.

I recomend a Emagic UNITOR-8 or a MOTU Midi Express XT
They are all 8 in and 8 out Patch bay/mergers.
Go with the 8 & 8 basically because of expansion. I am in need of another UNITOR-8 because of adding more modules.
When you pick one, stay with that brand, because they are "stackable". Meaning that they share the same USB or serial or paralell connection. Example, my 1st UNITOR-8 connects to the serial port on my computer, and each one after that connects to the first daisychaining them together up to 8 unitor 8's. Thats 64 in and outs on serial port 1. Another 8 UNITOR-8's can be stacked on Serial port 2. Who the hell needs 128 midi ins and 128 midi outs????

I used to use Cakewalk back in 1993, whatever version that was. I dont know how it is anymore. I am a dedicated Cubase VST user. My recording studio is based on VST. If a customer doesnt like it, to bad go to somewhere else. I wont use anything else. Hell, I printed all 400 pages out on the manual and read it and learned how to use it pretty well. Some things I didnt care to learn about. Im a aircraft electronics tech, so I have a small tendecy to read alot.
Im getting some pictures taken of my studio that I will post later.

I took a look at Sound Diver and it definately looks awesome. Whenever I go to the local music store (Mars) They never have what I need, plus their service sucks. They only make money because they are the Home Depot for Musicians. Anyways, yeah, I'd like to see some pictures of your studio...I took some of mine as well and posted them on my web site...but for some reason I think the server is down...Thanks again for your help...Are you a civilian aircraft tech? I'm actually in the Air Force. I went to recording school about 10 years ago back when analog was just starting to come over to the digital side of the house. Anyways, never got a break so I joined the Air Force and work w/ computer networks. Sick of it though, so I've been building a small studio here and there. It's getting there, but I'm waiting to get out and make a permanent deal in an unfinished basement. That's all I want to do is make music and record!

Yeppers. Total civilian. Got my A&P license the easy way, went to school for it. I currently work on 727-200, and L-1011'S. I've worked on DC-8, DC-9, 727-100. I've worked on our 757's a couple of times. They are a pretty decent aircraft. In other words, they dont break much.
