Copyrighting Beats

I know yall are gettin tired of my questions, but i wanted to know what method i should take to copyright beats. When i copyrighted my first album, which sucked sonically(radio shack equipment), i filled out the short PA form and sent the whole album off with $30. Is it the same way with beats? How many should i send at one time? I wanna sell beats eventually but i need to know how to get everything protected so when i sell i don't accidently sell my rights to the beat and someone else says they made it. I would be mad is someone mad millions off my track and i got no credit.

when you copyright the sound recording you only copyright the performance meaning the tracks actual performance not the notes if someone uses your performance (you playing the drums or keys) thats infringement. not if someone replays the parts you can copyright melodys and words and that would be different

yeah its the same way..you will be filling out the SR Form for your beats. you can put as many you can fit on there its considered a "collection" and it what you will list it as..send the form in with your CD and your 30$ fee..

and I know it will come up later..and has already been answered by the copyright office.

Hello, I got a question about copyrights of a “Collection”. If I sell a beat off of the collection, do the owner of the beat have right over the other beats on the collection. I was told that they do. Thanks for you time.

Willie

Answer
The individual titles of a collection are protected the same as if they were registered individually. If you sell one of the individual titles it does not affect the other titles of the collection. They would still be owned by the original copyright holder.

heres a trick i learned from my music business teacher. You copyright them as a collection such as the "Collected Works of Blank". Then you fill out a correction form and give names to the individual tracks. so in essnece you copyrighted (x) amount of songs for only 130 bucks.
