Drum Maps and VST's

Ok so...i have been using Reason for a while for my synths..but now i want to use cubase sx for my vst's since i produce all of music on softwares. so now...i have a drum map setup, and some other instruments into midi tracks on cubase. ofcourse i use my keyboard for triggering. my question is that, if i record the instruments and drums using my keyboarding via midi, i cant export audio from it...so what do i do with these midi tracks then?

The reason i want to switch to cubase for the synths and further music production is because of its functionality of having vocals and instruments on the same sequencer(though there is sonar etc..i love cubase) but reason couldnt do that.

OK, if I understand you correctly, you're triggering your softsynths from a keyboard controller? If you're using softsynths, then that's not a problem as the VST's automatically load their audio outputs in the Cubase mixer. If these are hardware MIDI synths, then you'll need to connect their audio outputs and record them onto audio tracks in Cubase.

simc6440 is on a distinguished road
to use a Midi controller with vsti's , try follow these steps(it worked for me)

-add a midi track to project
-midi-in: is your controller (in my case Oxygen 8)
-midi-out: is the VSt instrument you want to have(make the actual sound) on your channel(track)
-and press the red record midi button on the channel-so you van hear it "live"

i think then you should be ok.

individual nob you would have to map with the particular vst

You need to be a little more clear on what you are trying to do, that statement makes no sense.

What do you mean trigger midi tracks? U dont trigger midi tracks, they play according to whats in the midi track and where they are in the time line
What do you mean your keyboard controller has a VSTi on it? VSTi's are tied to their corresponding midi track and your controller is freely assignable to any midi track
VSTs can be applied on tracks as inserts or send/returns via efx bus, vsti's are midi controlled and cannot be used on audio tracks (with some exceptions)

set your left and right locators around the section of the song, solo the track, go to file/export/audio mixdown.

fyi,
Whenever you create a midi track based on a VSTi, cubase
creates an output audio track for that VSTi at the bottom of the inspector menu (under vsti's) which behaves like a regular audio so u can insert effects, do sends etc without rendering the track to audio. You can also freeze vsti's if you need more processing power.

You should only really need to render the mixdown when you are ready to render the mixdown

Altitude is correct. However, you might not need to export. I hardly export at all.

If you want to use audio processing plugins on a vst instrument, you can do that without exporting and importing. In the mixer (hit F3) at the far right side, there are vst tracks. They act like audio tracks, have inserts and sends and you can automate anything in them.

My whole point. Actually having a midi track and audio track where you can do all your automation, efx, and processing while still being to easily change the performance note by note is what cubase is all about. I do the same thing with hardware synths using a live input on a audio track and processing realtime
