Used to be in a band, but quit because I got sick of gigging. Plus I ended up having to write all the songs and teach the guitarist music theory so he could keep up.

We weren't that good, although we did a lot of gigs.

Plus we had a huge falling out becuase I wanted to be credited as producer on our CD.

I prefer to be sitting in my home studio - king of my domain.

If you had something to do with the recording, why would they not credit you? Our drummer did our recording and i think everyone in the band would have given him full credit for it.

I miss touring. I spend all of my free time recording. And I really do hate music.

Scouring the net for porn, and then masturbating furiously

After that, playing guitar and writing music. The rest is merely a stressful documentation process to me.

I never really toured, played a lot ( I mean a lot ) of gigs and I have to admitt that even though most of them didn't pay much they were a lot of fun. There is just something about the excitement of playing live that always made me feel alive. I've slowed down a lot ( age does that to us ) so now I devote most of my time to teaching and working on guitars, but I still relish the times when I get to go out and play for a live audience. I didn't vote because you omitted the option of " I love to play but I'm just too damn old."

i love playing, and i love the energy of a good performance to an appreciative audience. i love setting up. i love the pressure of having to hit that top Bb (i play trombone mainly) as soon as the curtains open. i love the fact that the music is just one of many things that people come to see - you've got to look the part (i play in a jazz/big band, and we all wear uber-cool black formal dinner jackets, hats, bow ties... it looks Brilliant ) i love improvising, and i love talking and laughing with an audience.

i love the buzz of running off stage after the curtain has closed again, and i love the collective high-5's, hugs, and general crazyness that happens after we've finished playing, especially when whoever we've played for comes up and says "i'm covering your bar tab tonight..."

i HATE packing the van.

Andy

If "touring"means performing, put me down for that. As a classical guy I dont have to "tour" all the time, I perform concerts. I have done about 5000

"Touring" can suck. When I tour its usually Europe and usually for a long time. Sure, it sounds good but its hard. Laundry, no time off, get up early, concert every night, rehearsals and spending 5 hours on a bus is not the ideal way to see Europe, unless you look out the window.

I am very into recording now and days away from actually finishing my first CD. Actually its my 57th, but first as the boss. However, its not nearly as cool ( or the same) as doing the real thing: playing in front of 2000 people 200 nights a year. There is nothing unpredictable in recording especially if you have ample time. In concerts, God knows what will happen.

Performing has given me the opportunity to see the world. I have been to 19 countries and 46 states.
