short cut for copying EQ & effects settings from 1 track to another?

Folks:

Is there a quick way to “copy” EQ settings from one track to another in Cubase SL? For example, say I’ve recorder an acoustic guitar melody on Track 1 and have EQ’d and effected it to my liking. Now I record an acoustic guitar harmony on track 2. Is there a quick way I can copy the EQ and insert effects from track 1 onto track 2 so that the two tracks will have the same EQ and effects settings? I know this can be done by simply writing down the settings applied to track 1 and replicate them manually, I was just wondering whether there is a nice shortcut.

You can save channel settings by right clicking just above the fader then load them in the next channel... I do this quite a lot with vocal treatments.

Or if you open up the channel settings window for that particular channel, in the bottom left there is a tiny, 'copy channel settings' button. Once you click this, the 'paste channel settings' button next to it will light up orange to show somethings in the clipboard. Then you just go to channel you want to paste to and click the orange...

Or you could right click on the channel and click 'duplicate track', right click the new duplicate, click 'select all events' and hit delete...assuming you want to make a new track thats the same as the other that is...

Open the mixer, click on the horisontal green bar right below the fader for the track who's settings you want to duplicate. It will get highlighted. Press Ctrl-C on the keyboard, then highlight the track to which you want to apply the settings, click on the horizontal green bar below the fader for that track, and press Ctrl-V. All the settings (inserts, EQ, fader level, sends, etc) will be duplicated.

What about from one song to another? Can you paste the track settings into a completely different project? I always figured there was a way, but never got around to finding out how. Would save me a bunch of time just on the drums alone. I tend to take a lot of time on one favorite song in a group of recorded songs, and once I get that one as good as I possibly can, I use a lot of the same settings on the other songs. Kind of like mixing several songs on a desk and just carrying your drums or guitars sounds over to each song or something. Right now, I make a list of all the effects on each track, I go through and save each effect as a preset, open up all the other songs, put the plugins where they should be for each track according to my list, and select the appropriate presets. A real pain in the ass, but I haven't had time to bother finding the easy way.

Reggie, in your case I'd recommend you use templates. Just open up an empty project, and set up the tracks the way you want to, with whatever plugins you need on them, with the appropriate track names, (guitar, kick, snare, etc), and save it as a template. This way all you need to do is just open up the template for the next tune, and all is set.

Well, I have a template I use for setting up channels for my inputs and busses and such; but as far as what track is what, every band has been different, so I just leave that alone until I know what I am recording exactly. And I prefer to track with no plugins active (at least to start), so I would rather not have them on the template. Besides, even the plugins I use change from band to band. I never really know what I need to do until I have it all recorded there in front of me.
I didn't get around to trying the save channel settings thing last night, but I will try it this weekend.
