ive got an md8 and i was wondering if it would be better to my computer . ive got a soundblaster live and i would need to get a good track recorder program . what program would be good? without being too complicated. that might have a layout that looks like a track recorder.

I don't get it. If you've already got an MD8, why would you want to track on your computer?

oh -
well you wont get as good sound through a soundblast live (although it would be okay). Plus, you'd need to drop some cash on software.

I personaly have more faith in standalone stuff.

Tj,
I use a midisk 4 track and the puter. The computer can help out on alot of things for sure. It is really good for editing the songs and sequencing any MIDI instruments.
The downside like Nilbog said is there is alot of cost involved to start up. Soundblaster is a good basic soundcard but it sucks ass IMO to record on. I forked out 400 bucks for a good multitrack recording soundcard (Darla 24) alone.
With 8 tracks though you can do alot for sure. I would say first learn every possibility with the MD8 and if you want to add puter recoring later do so. The MD8 is a great machine, I actually wished I would have waited until they came out before I bought my 4 track.

You'll need another sound card, amigo. The soundblaster isn't a full-duplex card, so you'll either need another soundblaster (set for playback in CEP, for example, while the other is set for recording), or a whole other soundcard. The Layla is a good card, it's the one I'm saving up for, you get, what, eight in and two out, and you don't need adapters or mixers to get into the card itself.

Anyway, that's my experience. And why an MD-8 is super valuable!...
