ASCAP Yet....

I've always been told not to join ASCAP or BMI unless I'm getting radio airplay, etc., etc.. Well anyway, I gave permission for someone to use some of my songs for a podcast for someone I know, and now I've learned that the podcast has been used by a radio station in San Francisco.

Now, I know it's nothing more than a AM station and the song may never even be played again, and blah, blah, blah.. Should I continue to wait until I'm getting what you would call real air play or join now?

Provided you can get proof for ASCAP in the form of a station log or a letter from the manager, go for it. Gives you bragging rights if nothing else

And you do have those tracks copyrighted don't you?

Yeah, I know the call sign for the radio station. So that should'nt be much of a problem. I never put anything on the internet without the copyright. While I trust alot of people, I don't trust all of them. Especially on the internet, you know.

Think I'll wait a little bit longer on the affiliation though. Maybe get a few more plays if I can.

Thanks for the reply.
