Were would something like that fit in my chain?

right now i have Condenser---->M-Audio Firewire Solo Audio Interface ---->PC/Cubase SX

Would this be something that would replace my AI? or can this be an addition to my chain in order to get maybe 1-2 more mics in (that's all i do, record vocals).

At first i thought it was a control surface like...the m-audio one they have for protools ...to control PT... but im not sure about that...can somebody shed some light about it. If it is then i would put it on my list just to have control surface for Cubase...but i prefer to spend 300-400 buck on monitors that i need for now anyways...but this looks good further down the road...USB the only minus i can think of.

The MW delivers true plug-and-play USB audio input/output interfacing, and lets you easily mix your audio sources down to two-track stereo for recording to computer.
Its just like an MG but with Stereo USB I/O. Kinda beginner but I defintely dig the retro logo

I checked the price at SweetWater - it costs you approx $200.00 only.

You could use it in the place of your M-Audio if you wanted. I think it will control Cubase from what little I have seen. The thing that would really pique my interest though is the price.

I wonder how many tracks you could do simultanously since its USB. I've heard USB devices are normally limited to 2 in and 2 out.

If anyone does pick one up, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

I'm thinking of getting one actually. At the moment I have no way of getting a mic into my PC, but occasionally I do need to do some voice and vocal work, so this might be handy. I trust Yamaha stuff, and with a USB going into my PC, it should maintain a decent low-noise signal.

No, it's not a MIDI controller, so you couldn't do your Cubase mix with this.

I owned a MG 12/4 and did'nt like the way it sounded. It was low noise and seemed to be built like a tank but what good is all that if it does'nt sound good. Just my personal opinion.

Doesn't this limit you to tracking 2 channels at one time?

TIP – Dig into your mic closet

The MW also has 48V phantom power, so you can use high-quality condenser or ribbon microphones and get pro-quality sound for your vocals and acoustic instruments.
Since when do ribbon mikes need phantom power? :s

I think one of the royer ribbon mics uses phantom power, but only because it has some funky preamp sort of thing in it. But other than that, I haven't heard of any.
