Just to give an idea of how nice this mic is. One day during drum tracking the drummer felt the need for a cig right in the middle of tracking a song(something like his 10th time thru). Well I hadn't paid any attention to anything and he came back in a we finally got something usable. When I went in to tear down the kit I noticed he had hit the kick mic stand and the mic was actually pointed directly at the side of the drum. There was hardly a noticeable difference between that sound and the normal placement. Very easy mic to work with in both placement and eq. Nick, don't forget to tune the damn drum properly. Hire a tech if you can't handle it, thats what I do and he's a godsend.

D6

Yeah, the built-in EQ response curve is almost ideal for most kicks. I usually tend to cut some of the sub and notch a little around 125-250, but it doesn't need EQing as much as a lot of other mics.

D112 with a Sub Kick does nicely. But out of those two, I go with the D6.

I've worked with both, separately and and together. I actually have gotten my best possible results out of a kick drum from both together. The D6 is rather aggressive in the upper mid range giving a perfect push-click. I'd rather own both, but the D6 is the preferred one.

Id like to know who else has used both. I know how sometimes in polls like this, people just vote for what they own. If you own a D6 and have never used a Beta 52...then I dont think you should vote. I have never used a D6, but I am quite happy with my Beta 52....

I have used both many many times. I did vote for the D6, but in my opinion it isn't much different from the usual suspects at all. One thing i hate about the beta 52 is where the cable plugs in. It constsantly seems to make things more difficult for me as I set a kick mic when the mic cable won't go in because of a part of the mic stand.

So did you vote? I have used both, D6 hands down. And whats wrong with people voting for what they own? I think polls not only show who likes what better but who owns what. If 95% of people own a D6 out of the two then I think that really says something.

Yup, I hate that about mine too. I had to take the retaining collar off my mic stand just to plug the damn thing in. I do like the sound of it though.

But if you own a D6, and have never even used a Beta 52...then how can you say that the D6 is better? I did not vote because I have never used a D6. I am very happy with my Beta 52, but I can not say that I like it better than a D6 if I have no experiance with one. You say that if 95% of the people own a certian mic..then that makes it better? when I bought my Beta, it was because it was a killer deal on it. At the time I bought it...I didnt even know what a D6 was.

so tell me....what is better...a Camaro or a Mustang? I used to have a mustang....never even driven a Camaro. Which one should I vote for???

What I was trying to say is that if 95% of people use the D6 then there must be something to it. Maybe the question should be what to you use or what do you own, not what is best, since honestly most people would never own both.

Hmm, well I can name quite a few people on this board who either have experience with both or actually own both. Although most do not, since most here are new looking for help, there are those who can give an honest opinion. So how about the ones who can't, just don't.

i voted b52 because the D6 only seems to do one thing, it does it very well.....
but it only does one thing.

the b52 is a little harder to place, the cable thing is annoying
but it'll go any where from a bump to a tap, as the situation calls for.
