Virtual Tracks?

I've lost the manual for my Yamaha MD4s, but there is all this talk of these 'virtual tracks'...it seems they may be of some use, but I have little idea what purpose they serve, or how to take advantage of them. Any info or tips on them, reguarding this machine would be greatly appreciated!

Actually there are not virtual tracks. There are, however, virtual "takes". Which means you can record like 99 different takes, and then choose one to keep.
