fruityloops q

i'm not sure if this would go here, or even anywhere on this site but i thought i'd try...

in fruity loops when you have drum loops going with a synth, then you cut back to just the drums...the echo of some synths continues over...does anyone know how to cut it off so it doesn't , or even know what i'm talking about? if not could anyone point me to a website where i might be able to find the solution. thanks.

I'm pretty new to fruity loops, but I'd say the fruity loops website.. They have some pretty good documentation. I'm sure they have forums of their own too if someone can't answer your question here.

thanks, i'll check out their forums too, i've checked all the help files/ troubleshooting within the program and couldn't find it... but probably because i wouldnt know where to look or what it would be called or how to explain what it is exactly... so i thought maybe explaining it on a message board to another user would be the best way to find the solution. it's probably something really easy and dumb that will make me say "man i was retarded" after i figure out. but aren't most problems like that though.

i'll explain as detailed as i can right here...

basically i'll have drums playing in number 1 , then for number 2 i'll introduce a synth of some sort. so on the playlist for the song it plays 1 (4 times), then goes to 2( 4 times) then back to 1. when it goes back to 1(just the drums) it will still have the echo of the synth from 2. how do i get rid of this so i just hear the plain clear drums?

I don't know why friutyloops seems to do this. I've had the same problem before(although I don't use fruity loops anymore), but it never seems to occur on the exported file. When you export to Wav or MP3 are still having this problem?

First click on the name of the offending instrument --- the one that won't shut off when you want it to.

That will open a 'Channel settings' box with the name of the instrument on the right side of the screen.

There will be four tabs 'SMP', 'INS', 'MISC' and 'FUNC'. Click on 'INS' and you will see a representation of an envelope for the sound. The parameters are del, att, hold, dec, sus and rel. The one you are probably looking for is 'rel' or 'release', but others may be affecting the duration of the sound as well. Play with this envelope shape while you have a sequence running and stop when you hear a sound that does what you're looking for.

And congratulations! You've just made your first step into the wunnerful world of synth programming!

thanks for the reply and trying to help, but thats not the problem. i have no problems with the actual sound, the volume, the length, the pitch , or anything like that... the problem seems to me more of a glitch or a one button fix type of problem. here's a clip of what im talking about...notice how the synth echos/carries over into the drums when i want it to end.

Hmmmm.

That example sure sounds like an envelope problem to me.

Have you tried what I recommended?

yes i did, sorry i'm not trying to be ignorant or anything. all it did was alter the actual sound within its time frame...but the altered sound still carried on to parts without the synth in the loop.

Can you send me the FL file either by attaching it to your post or linking me to some kind of 'myspace' FTP site where I can pull it down myself?

wait nevermind, it works now to an extent....for some reason it wasnt the first time i tried, thanks alot....i wish i could just "cut" it off instead, so i didn't have to alter the sound at all. because i still can't get get some parts how i want them to sound without still echoing over, but this is better than nothing. thanks again.

i think i might now whow to help you. if u sequenced the pattern using the step sequencer the sound will ocntinue forever. to get rid of this problem right click on the synth pattern thats giving you trouble and sne dit to the piano roll. once in there shorten the offending note and voila. i had the same problem with a few tracks and this did the trick.
