cubase sx, emu 1212 and edirol pcr-80

i am having massive problems becasue I am a newb. I have put almost 17 hours in the past two days trying tofigure out how to use these three things together.

first off, I have a creative labs prodi keys set up as well, its my regular keyboard and I just upgraded to a real midi controller. since putting in the new card and the edirol software, I can't figure out how to get sound from the edirol at all. When I open the vst instument drummer from hell 2 outside of cubase, you can see when you press the edirol keys down that the piano keys on the bottom of the VST move as well, but no sound comes from the vst. When I use prodi keys there is sound. When I try to select the midi device, I get confused as to what the hell they mean. I have tried evey combination I can think of and have no ideas as to which ones are supposed to be hooked up. the options are for outs: PCR 2, PCR MIDI OUT, the options for the input are: PCR 1, and PCR MIDI In.


when I open the VST drummer from hell 2 in cubase, I can only get sound by pressing using the mouse and pressing down the on screen keys. When the edirol keys are pressed, the only thing that happens is that the meter goes up and down showing that there is a signal being recieved.

worse when I try recording in the midi track, no sound plays back, but when you zoom in on the section recorded, you can see the sound byte pattern from what I pressed on the mouse (not the edirol), but still no sound comes out.

I am really confused as to what the hell I am supposed to do. I have gone through everything in the manual, what it breaks down to is, I don't know what to use as the midi inputs, outputs, how tomake the controller work with cubase.
