thicker bass trap?

Im building some DIY bass traps and id like to know if thicker bass trap absorbs more sound?
I see Ethans bass traps are 4 inches thick. I can build up to 6 inch thick trap.

Are you talking about panel traps - or broadband traps?

I think its panel traps im going to build, something like this:

Though im not sure how to cut those "I" shape holes for side cover (see the pic above to see what i mean).

Anyway if the effect wont be good enough ill help my self with EQ to dim some freq.
