Wiring it all up -- share your diagrams!

If the average picture is worth a thousand words, then this diagram is probably worth a small novel:

I actually started doing diagrams like this for my excessively complicated guitar rigs a few years ago. After simplifying a bit on the guitar front, I decided this might be better applied to my home studio setup. I just went through a major gear sale & purchase cycle... I don't have the setup finalized yet (still in the process of determining which instruments & mics sound best through which preamps/converters) but all the gear's here, it's just a matter of how I wire it up for different projects.

So, is anyone else out there anal enough to spend time diagramming things out in this much detail? Or am I the only one with way too much time on my hands?

I've done similar, only with pencil and paper. I haven't taken the time to find pics of all my gear and copy them into paint or anything. Right now I'm still trying to figure out some specifics with my setup. I'm about to buy an El` Cheapo Drum shell kit so on top of forking over the dough to pimp it out, I've now got to find a non-behringer preamp x4, pick up a few more mics and figure out which interface to get so I can have 4 ins on my pc. Good times ahead!@

The ADA8000 is great for the money... I think the pre's (Behringer IMP-invisible mic preamp) are supposed to be Mackie rip-offs, but not 100% positive. I am pretty sure they're the same converters used by some Alesis gear. Anyway, the ADA8000 is pretty clean & pure sounding... it's not one of those preamps that will warm up your tone, give you sizzle, add a little presence to cut you through the mix... tonally it's pretty transparent at the risk of being a bit too dry. I like it for bass, drums, vocals, but I find it a touch harsh for distorted guitars. Nonetheless, for $220 new, it's a nice piece of gear.

BTW, cincy_kid... I live in the Delhi area.

Hahaha, I used to do this with my whole house/home theater wiring, I've got stuff going all over the place. And now as of this coming sunday, my control room upstairs will be wired to down stairs (theater, and theater lobby are also my tracking rooms) with a couple of snakes, and I will have my control room computer connected to my theater system as a "easy" way to check mixes. Dang if I did a diagram of all that....hmmm better get working I guess.
