Lexicon MPX1 or PCM91...am I wasting my money?
I am still mulling over choosing the correct reverb for my home studio, which is the reason for my several posts recently...sorry.
I don't want to spend out on a PCM91 if I won't benefit from it, as my studio is small and the acoustics are not great at all, but is it worth it in the long run to save up and get the better verb - will it make a noticable difference to a mix when using the PCM91 over the MPX1 and take it closer to a more pro/polished sound? In my opinion, yes it will make a big difference. I used to own an MPX-1, and then bought a PCM-91. I had a chance to compare them side by side, and while the MPX-1 is okay it doesn't compare to the PCM-91 reverbs. I sold my MPX-1 and still use my PCM-91 all the time.
However, Lexicon isn't the only game in town. Other boxes to consider are the TC Electronic M3000 or M4000, Kurzweil KSP8 or Rumour, and Eventide Eclipse.
