"Character" of the Safesound P1
How would users of the Safesound describe the sound character of the unit?
I've heard the mic-pre is pretty basic ('vanilla') but quite decent, but when I consider the subtle effect of the multi-pass compressor which uniquely tracks the signal and the soft-gating upper end of the limiter (which is supposed to be truly refined) - it seems to have a softening, even slightly tubulur effect. Guess I'm on the fence about keeping the Safesound vs. sending off to England for their other indiginous pre, the DAV BG-1.... |

I think you need 'em both, I have a safe sound and the pre is just fine, the comp is just fine and the limiter and the expander are great! That's a lot of stuff for $600. If you don't need that "stuff", grab the dave.
