Optimum Rack Placement for Studio?

Hey guys, . .Is there any type of rule or thumb, or optimum order that works best for stacking outboard equipment in a rack for a studio application (like a reference amp, reverb unit, compressor, and power conditioner) with regard to ventilation, or power consumption, . .or does it all depend on preference?

keep it off a wall, and keep it away from heat

things that you use the most keep close to your fingers. things that are just sitting there (e.g. power amp) put furtherest away.

Put the patchbay in the middle

try not to put it under any pipes that carry water since plumbing pipes are all on a slight incline, a leak in the pipe anywhere upstream will cause it to run down the length of the pipe until gravity takes over and a spill occurs. You don't want the sun beating on it all day either.

I'd put the power conditioner on the bottom, with the amp just above it. If you have enough rack spaces to leave empty spaces, I'd leave a space between the power distributor and the amp, and then put the rest of the gear high enough so that it is as easy as possible to see and reach.

Yeah! (With the most used gear above the patch bay. Leave plenty of room behind the rack. It's not funny how often you end up back there even though the bay and the rack are supposed to save you all that messing around.

Racks with wheels are handy since you will inevitably end up having to pull the rack to rearrange something.

I put power amp on the bottom. I leave a space. On top of that goes the mic pres, dynamics and EQ with the converters at the top.
