I know close to nothing.. asking about digi 002r.. please help !!
Anyone who knows anything about DIGI 002 or recording equip.. please help !!
i hear this is what i need..... if im wrong TELL ME.... assume i know nothing... i can gain from whatever you tell me -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- alright... i don't know much about computers...... im trying to get serious about geting my own studio.... problem is i don't know if what i have is enough AND what i need i have Windows XP Professional, USB 1.0, 512mb of ram (max amount mother board will allow) and an 80gb Western Digital hard drive. I don't have firewire, i hear that i need it...... now.... should i scrap the comp all together and get something that can support digi 002 or do i have enough in my comp.... if i need firewire, can my computer support it.... can i plug it externally..... if internally how.... and how much of it do i need PLEASE HELP.... i don't know jack and i need to know fast how to get a good set up.... props to anyone that can assist |

First things first. Go to digi's website and check the compatability of your pc. If you're pc isn't compatable there is a very good chance pro tools won't work. However if it is compatable you can get one of those pci cards that have firewire inputs on them.

what processor speed is your computer? The main problem I see with that setup is that it doesn't look like it has much room to grow. 512mb max on your ram might become limiting. What type of recording are you going to do? Do you use midi? Are you just recording band practice, putting togather a demo? More info along that would be useful.

In all fairness pro tools le is catching up. With the project pack or whatever its called you get 48 tracks and more plugs. Not to mention pro tools 7 is a bit more processor friendly. But yeah there isn't an upgrade path like with cubase and others.
