Dwafs setup

...well soon to be

Yamaha aw16g
Shure beta57
Shure sm57
Marshall MXL pack (603 and 2001)

This is going to be my starting rig. I'm going to have to get a set of monitors (until then it's through headphones) and some drum OH's.

Ratings?

This is going to sound awfully lofi but don't get locked into Shure as you standard mic. Try all sorts & prices, little cheapies have their own intertesting sonic qualities - my current faves are a brace or Sony 19B Electret condensors (70's stuff & cheap too). They are very versatile. I have "better" mics but like to use a range.
Use whatever you can get & add ALL the time obviously.
Cheers from the East Coast
