Reason Rewire Levels

Okay... I posted this elsewhere. However, I decided that it would be better to delete it and start a new thread on this subject.

I want to make sure that I'm getting the best possible sound out of Reason and into Pro Tools (I have M-Powered 7).

Based on the information provided to me in this thread and elsewhere, I am shooting for the following (in general).

In PT:

Aux/Instrument gain fader should be set to 0 dbfs.

BF Meter Bridge plug-in, placed directly after the ReWire insert (in the signal chain), should be set to -15 dbFS Meter Calibration and RMS.

While playing the song, the VU meter on the Meter Bridge should show a reading that is as close to 0 dbVU as possible, without going over (during the loudest passages).

After flipping the RMS vs. Peak switch to Peak and the Meter Calibration to 0 dbFS, the meter should not read a value over -6 dbVU (during the loudest passages).

Also, the clip light for the track should NEVER light up.

If these requirements are not met, the instrument's settings, in Reason, should be modified to get the signal within spec. Also, effects processing could (but I'm not sure about should with this one) be used on the PT end to further enforce the specs (Keep in mind this is the mixing stage).

The problem I see in this has to do with the RMS metering. If the instrument produces intermittent content, its RMS will be naturally low.
