Oram MWS. $1000 . http://www.oram.co.uk/main.html

This is the original MWS preamp offered from Oram. This unit is in great condition with only some "rack rash" and works flawlessly.

The preamp has TONS of gain available, and provides a very clean and detailed sound. The "patented" EQ Magic is legendary! The eq on this just plain sounds SWEET!

Why is he selling it? simply, we already have a preamp that has a similar sound, and we don't really use the eq much while tracking. It is a great box, but we need more variety, so this peice has to go.

TL Audio Ivory PA5001 4 channel tube mic preamp $400

This above link is to the "MkII" model, but the one for sale is not a MKII. The difference? The one for sale does not have multiple LED's for level like the MkII but instead has a single LED that light up for "clipping", and I can't quite remember if it has the direct inputs on the front panel for each channel which suggests that it don't. Otherwise, they look and most likely sound identical in every other way.

The unit is in excellent condition! Just a bit of "rack rash" from mounting it.

These are decent pre's, but aren't KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF, although if you believe reviews on gear, they are the greatest thing since dandruff shampoo! I have used this TL box on toms where they sounded pretty decent. Lately, it has be regulated to things like snare bottom, a second kick drum mic close to the beater, and occasionally a drum room mic. In the past, I have passed guitars through it, and it sounded alright. The preamp isn't noisy, and it give you a fine degree of control on levels. In a smaller project studio, it will do a good job for you!
