It depends on what style/vibe you are going for. I've played Telecaster in a high-gain setting and liked it.... but thats not everybody's thing.
Some will say however, that a Telecaster really shines through a Fender tube amp like a bassman, or a vibro king especially. But that setup is limiting if you wanted to play say...... punk rock. And likewise, your marshall is not the best choice if you got the Tele because you wanted to sound like John Fogerty.
You gotta figure out what kind of sound you want and make an educated purchase.
And thats assuming the Tele actually is the guitar sound you were looking for when you got it. I hope you don't plan on playing metal with it. I love my Tele but it only comes out when I want a really plinky clean sound, or maybe a distorted indie-rock sound. My humbucker-equipped guitar sees more use when I play electric.

anyway, I would take your guitar to a good music store and just play til something strikes you, then ask yourself if it will do what you want it to do if you buy it.

ya man...i knew the tele was the guitar i wanted cause i had one for like 5 years until i recently upgraded to a better one...and i dont like it too clean cause it sounds kinda too twangy, i like it more gritty like how you said indie rock, thats more the sound im going for...i love it with some gain on it...i play it through an old fender amp but its kinda shot , i also never really was into the fender thru fender amp idea, now that i think about it i liked the tele through this vox amp i had...i guess youre right i should just play around at a music store till i find what i like, but im trying to just take the easy way out and buy the amp setup off ebay to save money and that would be a lot harder to do...whatever....i guess if im going for an oasis/nirvana/electric elliott smith/strokes sound then would a marshall half stack be good? is the question i need answered

No, don't get the marshall.

Check out a Vox AC30 2x12 combo.

Look at the Hot Rod Deluxe. Has some great tones and a really pure tube clean channel - hence you'll be able run some great effects through it if you like. It's a great price, portable, plenty loud, etc. I've owned Mesa's, VHT's, etc - and I really love the hot rod deluxe.
