everyone is saying it's weird that I didn't know, but most people are ignorant... let me clarify. when we released our album, we sent it to mtv with a blanket license agreement that allows them to use the music for any of their shows. they don't need to tell us, we just know that it is a possibility it can be used. it may have been used before and I don't know about it, but I just happened to have this show on in the background.

that said, I really didn't expect them to use any of it, but they did and I'm elated! it was one of those things where you send it not hoping for much, but it couldn't hurt.

Not to take this thread into a different topic, but I'm a little fuzzy on this myself -- what are the advantages of either one? Anyone have suggestions/recommendations?

I have done extensive reading and basically they are about the same, there are advantages and disadvantages to both, but they about equal out. ASCAP apparently pays better some of the time, but then BMI does other times. I'm going to ask some of my friends who have already joined and are successful with music tomorrow.

But, aside form that. You can make some money on reruns and if you get on a lot of shows.
