Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this....any help will be greatly appreciated.
Question........I usually will sing along to premade backup tracks on my pc. However, I don't know how my vocals sound until after I am done recording. Is there a way that I can monitor my voice while I sing?

You will have to give us a bit of info. What are you using to record? Do you have a mixer? What soundcard?
In most situations you should be listening to your backing tracks and your voice through headphones while recording. If you don't have the ability to monitor your voice then you should record a little then listen back and make any adjustments as needed. Repeat this process until it sounds good to you.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have always used Creative Sounblaster recording software, as that is what came with my sound card. Creative SounBlaster 5.1
What I really want to know is how to be able to do as you suggested.....be able to listen to my voice and backup track at the same time. Is there a certian coundcard or software that can be used to achieve this result?

Most soundcards that are designed for general computer use do not have the type of function that you need. They are designed to output sound . They don't do a very good job at inputting sound, And, they do a terrible job of simultaneous input and output, if they can do that at all. I recommend a soundcard or audio interface that is designed specifically for audio recording. There are models that are installed inside the computer, and models that are external. Some have midi ports, some don't. Various input and output options. They start at about $150 US
