Best wood type for a Drum Riser??

Hey guys I'm going to be building a drum riser to help decouple my drums from the rest of the house. Its a pretty basic design two 6x8 plywood sheets with 2x4s 12 inch spaced for supports then im going to sit them on 1inch rubber coasters.

My question is should for the wood should I use something to add to the sound such as birch plywood? or go with something that wont resonate as much like mdf? I'll be covering it with carpet as well just curious as if you guys had any suggestions on what to use.
