Every place I asked that question, Mesa was by far the most recommended amp.....

K...Mesa Triple head at a conservative $1700...see you in say 340 hours of non-stop work but, if we break that down to a reasonable 40 hour work week 8 1/2 weeks. That is if you're livin' with yo mamma an she be feedin' ya.

I'm also a recent fan of the B-52 AT series amp...they've got loads of gain at a fraction of the cost (about 1/3). Put your favorite metal pedal in front and you're off to the chain saw massacres!

For that price you could get two and impose an immediate self eviction from the town council. Stand just a little closer to the speakers and well, if you ever snap out of it, you'll realize that your fruit of the looms weren't really full of fruit after all .

Go grab one of those new Randalls, the V2 or the modular heads - they look very promising

Ampeg VH-140C. It's out of production, but they're somewhat abundant on the bay... http://search.ebay.com/search/search...rclo=&saprchi=
It's arguably the best solid-state metal amp. I'm not really into metal, but I still want one for myself.

try out the mesa F series. I have the F50 and it's great. It goes for about 1200 new. But maybe you are looking for a half stack or something?

hey guys how are the b52's? I tried one out when I was looking for a tube amp and ended up getting the mesa f50 but the b52 were pretty good and only like 600 bucks. The guy at guitar center they were getting a lot of returns on them for breaking down or some crap. Have you guys heard of this happening?

The single recto's aren't slouches either.
They say the solo 50's are more "focused" due to the solid state rectificaiton.

I love my solo 50 head.

definately get the peavey 6105 (or the older version 5150)

cheaper than the marshalls or mesas, and better for the style you described..

just look at what the bands you like the sound of use, and im pretty sure you'll end up buying the 5150
