Which notation program?
Hi!
I am playing with Cubase SX and Reason a little bit, and I would like to try some notation program with good MIDI connection (import, export). Which one would you recommend; it should be user friendly and compatible with upper two… Thanks! |

When i used to use MIDI for notation i always used Sibelius. That was always a good programme for me, however, that was for real complicated sheet music. If your just doing quite simple notation, try using Reason and use the 'edit' tab at the lower end so you can see the notes which your playing in.
Hope that helps,

Very very good and very cheap:
Harmony Assistant or Melody Assistant at www.myriad-online.com Demo on their website you can download. I do all my notation on it and cannot figure out why anyone would pay the high prices of the big packages when this program does more than I'll ever need... |

Cubase SX has a notation feature built in so just use that

I use Sibelius. Its the best one out there IMHO but its expensive and not exactly simple to learn. Finale and Sibelius are the "industry standards", the stuff that film composers and classical composers use. I dont know if they still make Encore, I believe it has a lil brother called Music time or Music print or something, do a search. Encore is good and quite easy to learn but they might have a ridiculous price on it. If you can snag its lil bro for 50 bucks or so then it might be good. Sibelius is like $350.
