I'm wondering if I would get better sound quality if I did my recording in my walk in closet. It is about 5x8 ft. There would be enough room albeit cramped. i am considering investing in a condenser mic akg perception 100 or 200, but want to know if this would help at all as I know the these mics tend to be very sensitive & could probably pick up noise from my cats running around in other parts of the house.

The smaller the room the more bassy the recording is going to be. That can be good or bad depending on what you're looking for. I'd say if you keep all the clothes hanging up it could turn out pretty cool as long as you can actually play.
I actually did this exact same thing before. I recorded some acoustic guitar in my closet before I had my studio functional. At the time I thought it turned out pretty well, but I might think differently if I revisited the recording... Who knows, just try it.
