box bed room vocal treatment
hi all, - need suggestions on a vocal treatment for my bed room that i can dismantle when im not recording.
i can only record in my box bed room 7'x7'. my single bed totally takes up 2/3 of the floor space. leaving a strip of floor space, about 2'-6" (the with of my bed room door) to sit/stand in. im thinging along the lines of putting hooks on the walls and/or ceiling i can hang sheets of sound absorbing material. putting up permanent fome tiles isnt real an option. but if there is any type of professional sheeting i can buy that WILL work i would make the investment? im open to all sugesstions, thanks. |

i saw a thread where someone built a portable vocal booth using pvc pipe and moving blankets. maybe thats what you need, i bet they'll chime in soon.

When recording, I would lean the mattress(es) up in the corners to function as some sort of bass trapping. Hang heavy blankets on the other walls. Basically, make the room as dead as you can, since it's so small. If you have the resources, build or buy some type of sound absorbing panels made out of rigid fiberglass or rockwool (see the studio building forum for tips) to cover selective areas (corners), or to position around you when tracking.

yeah i have had a similar situation as yours, personally i took my bed and put it against the wall and the matress against the other, then i got as many pillows and curtains etc that i could find and made the room dead, also try closer micing as this will help eliminate the sound of the room
