"the" fix for the tascam us122

For all newbies that just bought the us122 this is the advise that i just got after 3 days of trouble shooting...

1 try to put a powered usb hub between the computers usb port and the tascam.

2 unplug everything else from your usb ports

3 turn down your video hardware acceleration right-click desktop, properties, settings, advanced, troubleshooting, adjust the bar.

apparantly it is a problem with power drain (since its usb powered) from the usb port most of the time, i guess its supposed to be 500ma @ 5v. and alot of computers have have a problem providing this amount.

anyway i suggest if this doent fix your problem go to www.tascamforums.com and do a search for your laptop or the forum for your particular laptop and do a search for tascam

yeah super smooth me, i thought i had it..., it was all workin fine till today when i plugged it up and vwalah it no worky worky,

i am sure that this is a fine audio interface but just not for me, im going to send it back to musiciansfriend(they pay the shipping) and get something thats not usb powered (just too much of a headache to use) i kinda feel like this has been a big waste of my time.

lesson here? if your going to buy this , hook it up to your machine first or make sure you can return it easily ( i.e. not stuck in the middle of iraq like some people whos initials are e pluribus unum )...

to be clear i am not bashing this product, just saying that it works on some machines and doesnt work on others, honestly i wouldnt be suprized if its because im using 50hz 220v electricity rather than 60hz 220v or 120v. just a thought... ( or it could be my crap averatec)lol

I wonder what the problem is. Just for the record, I've used my US-122 Attached to an IBM M 1.3 laptop and an old PIII 700 Dell system. It does crackle a bit when playing back MP3s on the Dell, but otherwise works perfectly. Actually, even if I encode MP3s on the Dell, they will play back fine on other computers - this is when all of the original recordings were performed on the Dell/US-122.

Sorry to hear that you're having a frustrating experience with this little box.

yeah guttapercha it just was too much trouble shooting to make it worth i t for me i was expecting it to be practically plug and play but it turned out to be just more time then it was worth(to me), ive heard some people thats had it for years and they said they just brought it home and installed no problems... idont know....

i will say that i can respect the fact that it takes a while to get a piece to interface properly , but once it works it works you know?

i ve got the maudio quattro back in at the house and it works like a dream after i got the initial kinks out, and i ve heard some really terrible reviews of the quattro. really i think its just a matter of the usb powered, it requires a next to perfect usb port performance and i just dont have that on my machine. and its cheaper to buy a different interface than a laptop you know?

anyway i hope anyone reading this takes my advise (expecially if you have a averatec 3150) prior to buying

ok i am about to punch someone in the face, this tascam (ahrrrrr) i found out how to make it record without clipping/skipping, brace yourselves...

if i put a load on my cpu with a resource hungry plugin (ozone with a hardcore preset) it works seamlessly...

if i try and bypass the plugin it goes right back to the clipping/skipping...

this is just too much does anyone else have this problem?
