Presonus Firebox & Senn. M421 don't work!

I feel like I'm missing something obvious here.. But I just installed my firebox on my iMac - and if I plug my electric guitar in directly, it works OK. However, when I plug in my (brand new) Sennheiser 421 (xlr cable) I get no sound. It's like I'm missing the "on" button on the microphone...

Sorry - I just realized it "works" - but something's wrong. I hhave the gain up +30 on the firebox and my amp is decently loud - and it's barely picking up the amp...

Have you got a PA or something you can use to check the mic works? If not, take it back to the shop.

Check your cables.

You have got it plugged into one of the XLR inputs on the front, right?

Yeah - i plugged it into my mixer's XLR port and couldn't get a signal. I also plugged it straight into my mackie HR824 with no signal. But when i jack up the pre's on the firebox, it barely works - so when I go back to the store tomorrow, I wonder if I should have them look at the cable or the mic (i'll definitely be taking both...)
