Talking Suggestions Please!!!

Hi,

So, I have a SP C1 Condenser mic, a ART TPS "Tube" 2 channel mic pre and the two preamps that are built into my Delta Omni Studio breakout box. I'm happy with my acoustic guitar recordings through the TPS with a pair of 603's, but I'd like to upgrade my vocal recording signal path and I'm not sure whether to go with a new mic or a new pre. I'm thinking that the Grace 101 pre might be the way to go, but I am also considering a Audio Technica 4050 or a TLM-103. I wish I could afford a new pre and a new mic, but I have to choose one for now. My inclination is to go with the pre, but I thought I'd better run it by those in "the know" first.

I have some of my home recordings here: http://www.myspace.com/micamusic

Thanks in advance

Grace is a good choice, since you have a decent mic for now, I'd get the pre first. A good preamp will get you thru times of average mics better than a good mic will get you thru times of average preamps.....

I'm always of the mind that you should improve your weakest link as far as you can. I think it's your pre if you're just comparing your pre and mic, though you often get more milage for your buck when improving your mic.
