How do I upgrade my VS-1880's OS so that I can use the VSCDR II cd burner?

Use midi. You can download the update from the Roland website. You may also want to check out www.vsplanet.com there are plenty of top notch Roland users there.

When I upgraded my 880 I just connected my midi cables and played the midi files on the Windows media player.
