V67g...

....came yesterday courtesy of the UPS guy.

Only had time last night to lay down a quick vocal track, I can't wait to get home and play with it some more. First impressions were very good.

BTW, it is a very cool-looking mic with the gold-plated screen and green body - looks much more expensive than it is.

excellent! congrats! new mics are always fun.

i think the v67 is a very capable mic, and excels on some vocalists. over time (or on some vocalists) you might find some "issue" with its midrange, but you might not. i did, but it's still my "go to" mic on one vocalist in particular.

and as you noted, it's got a "cool factor" that people tend to love. i've had clients specifically request "that green and gold mic"--i suppose they don't realise how cheap it is. sonically, it might not be the right mic for them.....but if singing into a cheaper mic raises the performance level, i can compensate for everything else.

if you record drums--especially drums that have cheap cymbals or in a less than perfect room, try the V67 as an overhead. you may be pleasantly surprised.

cheers,
wade

I own a V67G, it was my first condensor and I've been using it for quite a while now. I don't really like how the tracks recorded with it seem to "disappear" when put in the mix.. vocals especially. It's ok on acoustic guitar though, and I actually really like it on kick when placed a fair distance away.

I wish I could trade mine

for something that would be useful to me at this point.

What do you want to trade/sell it for? I like the v67g. It isn't a good fit for every voice or application but it is a good mic for the price. I can see how it could get lost in the mix because it doesn't have the "edge" that some mics in that price range have.

whatcha got that you want to get rid of?

unfortunately, I can't think of anything that would be considered roughly equal value that I'd want. I keep thinking that if I get a decent pre, maybe it won't suck so bad, but I don't think that's the problem. Got a halfway decent voice I can trade for?

PM me, so we don't keep bumping this up since it's the wrong forum.
