There doesn't seem to be much excitement here

about Acid 6, which marks the program's first mutitrack-capable version. And that includes me. Anyone else here not in a rush to upgrade? I'm currently up to version 5, though I still prefer to use 4, and I use Vegas for multitrack already.

It's a good thing when they invest in one of their product lines to make it more capable. The Japanese car makers have been playing that game for decades.

The downside is the continuing sticker shock on their products. Software only represents an effort undertaken once to generate an app. A car has to be designed AND built. So the SW maker has to be cognizant of the ability of other teams to construct similarly capable applications. But the accounting department is screaming for them to milk it as hard as they can as long as they can.

I'm certainly eager to understand the capabilities, but I've always liked the flexibility of working between two decent programs. Today I bounce back and for between LIVE5 and AcidPro5. Both have new releases coming soon. I most likely will only consider an upgrade to one of them. Acid6 will have to be pretty damn good for me to make the leap.

if i can afford it when it comes out id love to get it. Ive always loved the user-friendlyness of acid pro, the only reason i dont use it as much is because it cant multitrack.

It seems to be a resource hog, and since I don't do much MIDI I just prefer using version 4 for my looping needs.

i use 4 and have no problems with my tracks. for the recording i do (acoustic guitars and vocals) acid 4 with sound forge 6 works great for me. i have no desire to upgrade right away

i'll probably upgrade. i skipped the version 5 upgrade since i didn't think it was worth it for me. could have used the onboard VST capabilities, but i figured i'd just take my chances and wait (and maybe wait... and wait... and wait) for version 6. i'm stoked that sony's releasing another upgrade so soon. the midi piano roll editing from the arrangment screen will be great for my needs since it sucks to have to go back and forth doing edits between the windows. i don't see myself doing much multitrack recording, but i'm sure i'll find a use for it, maybe for recording multiple effected signals from hardware at once. i'm also intrigued by the groove template stuff from v5.
