Drum Recording Manipulations
Hey everyone,
I have a few questions, so I think I should just get into it. These questions all pertain to band recordings; seperate tracks and everything together. I'm using Cool Edit Pro V2, BTW. 1. I have a mono recording of a drum track. Is there a way to increase the sound of the snare and kick and NOT the cymbals? 2. I also have a mono recording of a band performing live, but the vocals and bass are a little low. Is there a way to bring them up from a mono recording? Infinite thanks to all of you. I see that this Forum is loaded with professionals who know their stuff at a level I never will. -Ollie |

I've never personally tried to bring out certain drum sounds from a single channel drum track but you might try boosting a little bit around 80-100 Hz to get the kick up a little bit more, Maybe try boosting around 5 kHz to bring out the snare a little bit. This may help. If anyone else has any better suggestions feel free to overule me as I am pretty much just trying to use some EQ'ing knowledge to fix the problem.
